Why I started solo Traveling at 20

Why does no one ever talk about why they started solo traveling in the first place?

For me, it was never about not wanting to wait for other people. It was about freedom — the kind that comes from choosing yourself. It was about self-growth, discovering who I am, when I am completely on my own, and proving to myself that I could create the life I wanted without hesitation, without excuse.

My first solo trip was to Mexico. I planned it two weeks before leaving, right before my junior year of college. I have always been independent — since I was 17, I was working, taking care of myself, and learning how to rely on me. But this felt different. I wanted a breakthrough. I wanted to do something that scared me and come out more confident on the other side.

And I did. What I did not expect was how social solo travel actually is. You meet people more easily, you connect more deeply, you talk to locals, and you live fully in the moment. It is freedom, but it is also connection.

That is why I started solo traveling — for the independence, the confidence, and the chance to build a life that is completely mine.

If you’ve ever dreamed of traveling alone, this is your sign to go.

Remember Always,

Live a life you will remember.
Live with no regrets.
